Dr. Barbara VanGilder grew up in Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate education, studying an eclectic mix of art and science and receiving her bachelor’s degree in zoology. Her passionate interest in animals and science took her to the University of California Davis where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After veterinary school, she received advanced training in both general and emergency practice in Hollywood, Florida, and from there joined the staff at Four Seasons Animal Hospital.

Dr. VanGilder has always been active in conservation biology and public health projects both at home and abroad. She spent time working with The National Parks Service in New York, and has participated in various projects in Central America, Africa and Australia.
