|
Dr. Jennifer Hamm was born and raised in a small town near Nashville, where she spent most of her childhood outdoors with the many pets that she had convinced her parents to adopt. After high school, she attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1998 while finding time to study non-science subjects such as pottery and the Russian language.
With a lifelong love of animals and science, Dr. Hamm always knew that veterinary medicine was the perfect career for her. Adding in her love of travel and adventure, she chose to do her veterinary training at The Royal College of Veterinary Medicine in London, England, completing her degree in 2003. At the Royal College, Jennifer was awarded the Clifford Formston Award for Surgery in her final year. In addition to her veterinary degree, five years in London gave her a taste for most things British, including football (soccer) and Indian cuisine.
After veterinary school, Dr. Hamm moved back to Tennessee to begin her career in small animal practice. During this time, she worked night and weekend shifts at a local emergency clinic and discovered her passion for emergency and critical care medicine. In 2007 she started practicing emergency medicine exclusively, and has since intensified her passion by accepting a residency position at Four Seasons Animal Hospital.
Jennifer enjoys ethnic cuisine, reading Agatha Christie novels, and traveling whenever possible. She loves to be outdoors with her two dogs and is looking forward to exploring northern California with them.
